THE NURSERY

aka 'The Pink Place', the basic design is - if it's pink it'll fit! Patchwork pink, yellow and green curtains, pale yellow carpet, mostly white furniture (except for my old, comfy pine bed!) and only a few accessories. Accessories are either pandas or fairies. The Nursery 'style' is evolving and unique!

I struggled to find a material that I was happy with, I love the curtains. The 'A' cushion is a new addition from Jonny's Sister, I've also bought an Alice banner from the same (fab) seller, but haven't hung it yet. Also, still to go up on the wall, are the Chinese prints (2 large, 1 small and 1 embroidery) that I bough in Guangzhou and the parasols from Kunming (yellow and pink). The prints/embroidery have yet to go up as I'm waiting to get them back from the framer and the parasols are still sitting on the window sill as I can't work out how to hang them!

Grandad hung the shelves for us on Sunday - they're made in a house shape and we have a matching dolls' house (not yet used!). No doubt they will soon be filled with clutter, but for now they're just a useful support to the video monitor. The video screen only works in the hall (the living rooms are too far away, I should really have a webcam one, but I don't know how to sort that out). When swaddled Alice looks like a slug on the monitor, but it's good to be able to sneek a peek to check on her.

CO-ORDINATING

As L pointed out Alice's shoes match her highchair - I'd never noticed that! But I had noticed that the highchair matches the curtains - so you'd better watch out, come to CBH and you may be forced into wearing navy check or gingham!!

THE NURSERY - AS IT USED TO BE!

This is one of the photos that went in my application to China.

The nursery was originally my step-father's dressing room, with pale blue walls and a grey blue carpet.

It's been changing over the last 4 weeks or so, major changes although not in the most common sense order!

After the furniture had been cleared out the first addition was the cotbed. Then (early last week) the walls turned pink and the new lampshade was hung. Today the carpet was replaced - now it's a golden colour.

The cotbed's still in there, but now more furniture needs to go in there too - a white rocking chair, a single bed and a bedside table (though it's going next to the rocking chair and not the bed!)

Tomorrow the curtain rail will be put up and then a week next Monday the new curtains will be hung. At some stage while I'm away (I hope) the changing table will be delivered. Also to go in there is a dolls' house set of shelves.

It's coming together, at last.

NOT ONLY DOES WHATSHERNAME NEED A NAME . . .

. . . but her nursery also needs a colour scheme. I'm trying to find a curtain fabric that will go with plain painted walls and new carpet (both colours will be chosen to go with the curtain fabric!)

What do you think of:
Opinions welcomed! Please leave a comment - I know my favourite, but I'm not convinced enough to plump for it, yet!! (Bit like names really!!)
