FABRIC BROWSING

I've already looked (see results from Sat 14th Oct 06). Yesterday I went to look for curtain fabric for the nursery (again!).

The plan so far:
  • Walls, painted - maybe pink or yellow
  • Carpet, new - thinking cream
  • Curtains, new, patterned fabric - something with pink and bright colours, maybe spotted (seems to be a life theme at the moment)
  • Accessories to compliment curtains and pattern
  • Bedding, depends what I can find to coordinate!
I did find one book that had some lovely colour combinations but the fabric is based on different cultures. This gives me a dilemma - is it right to have a pattern that will continually remind us of the differences, or does it celebrate the difference and remind us that fundamentally we're all the same?

The photo only shows the book sample (it's a phone photo and the colours aren't as they really were) - it's got 4 different rows of people. The other problem is that it's based on blue, and while I adore blue I really wanted a pink or yellow room!

However there is a coordinating wallpaper (I know I wasn't going there but I really like it and it's got yellow in it!)

What do you think? What about the different cultures? Colour schemes? Fabric choices?
