C and I did a little painting last night - patches on the wall and on pieces of paper. After supper (in the dark) we reduced the selection and I painted a larger square on the wall.
This morning I checked it again in natural daylight and made a final decision. By 9:15 I was in Newport at the carpet shop - that's quite an achievement for me for a Saturday morning! 30 minutes later the carpet was chosen, the old plans of the house found in the shop's filing system, measurements retrieved, costs calculated, fitting booked and deposit paid! How's that for efficiency?
After a little retail therapy (giving the decorator time to return my call) I bought the paint - the decorators need to be finished by a week on Tuesday as they fit the carpet first thing on the Wednesday morning - 2 days before I leave for China! I also managed to return the sample book to the fabric shop (30 minutes from home, a job saved from next week).
So the nursery will have the pink and yellow patchwork curtains, pink walls and a yellow shade of neutral carpet - now I've just got to hope that it looks OK.
