. . . about giving gifts and tipping in China.
About tipping - who, how much, when(daily, end of trip) etc? The guide? Driver?
Anyone else?
Gifts - (2 families travelling together) were going to do 1 bag for
nannies, 1 for director.
So far our thoughts are, for nannies:
hand creams,
nail varnishes,
lipsticks,
deodorant,
biscuits (high quality)
boiled sweets
Then the same for director (female) but with the addition of Welsh
love spoon (from me in Wales!) and photo albums of our homes and
families.
We are also going to ask for home made albums to be passed
on to foster families.
Any other suggestions for gifts? We do understand that they must not
be produce that's made in China, any other pitfalls to be avoided?

We also included postcards to write on - our guide wrote for us. We gave soaps in little tins so they would have them left afterwards. Make sure label any liquids (ie handcream) so they know what it is. Deodorant doesn't seem to be a bit thing in China so might not be used (very hard to buy out there so take plenty). We bought good quality chocolate in Beijing and then added that to the parcels. What about keyrings/pens/hankies/coasters with local connections? Sure you will get lots of ideas Vicky
