I've only left Alice a few times:
- The first time was after 8 days, in China, when I had to go to the British Consulate to get her entry visa granted, I cried after I left her (hadn't thought through the 'leaving her' part of visiting the Consulate!) Later that day I went shopping and later again to visit a fellow adoptive Mum, but both times she was asleep. N looked after her.
- The following week I went to an aqua aerobics session, Alice was asleep, I rushed home afterwards. T was 'on Alice duty'!
- Last week I took Daisy to the vet to get her nails clipped and whilst I was out I took the car to be 'listened to' at the local garage, I thought it was making a funny noise, it was, it isn't any longer now that the rear wheel bearings have been replaced! T again.
- Today for the funeral.
Still counting the times away from my new baby - can you tell I'm a new mum?!

Sorry to hear about your friend's mum - big hugs to you and your friend (((((((((()))))))))))
Yes you do sound like a new mum :-) But I can still remember the first time I left each of mine and they are 18, 13 and 4 now :-)
Love
Janet
Hi Kate: Can completely empathise with your emotions around leaving Alice. I'm not sure it gets easier ... I think we just get used to the idea. It was only yesterday that I actually left A with someone she knows well (at my friend's house so not in familiar surroundings). It was just for a few hours. As with Alice, A did fine but was certainly glad to see me! I was so uneasy, though, until I saw her and held her again. BUT as it turns out she was "recognised"! A woman in the playground where she was playing with Godmother recognised her from the photos on yahoo and our blog! How's THAT for fame! I imagine the same might happen for Alice one day - especially with that fab and stylish "do" that she's got! Not many can pull off such a trendy and beautifully unique look! Ellen xx
