Notes - for me to remember and for those about to apply!

You have to complete a form, the form to complete is MN1. I think the section that the application is under is D4 - but this if off the top of my head and my memory isn't up to much at the moment! There is a helpline:
0845 010 5200, it's open Monday to Friday from 9am - 9pm.

You may (if you wish) apply for a Nationality Checking Service appointment. They will check the form is correctly completed, photocopy all the evidence and return the originals (worth the appointment just to save sending original documents). The appointment costs about £20 - can't remember exactly! Not all Register Offices offer the Nationality Checking Service (NCS). There are only 2 in Wales - Cardiff and Haverfordwest, there are few along the M4 corridor, Bracknell is the next, but there are lots in London. There is also info (and the forms and guidance to download) on the Home Office's citizenship pages of their website.

Cardiff was the closest for me, when I rang for an appointment there was a 6-7 week wait for an appointment. Their contact details are 02920 871690, 48 Park Place, CF10 3LU. There is plenty of pay and display parking on Park Place. I parked and ran (I was very late) in Dumfries Place NCP, I'd recommend the P&D on PP - closer and cheaper, with many more spaces available.
