I tried to keep today simpler than the rest of the week has been - Alice needed to get back into routine and get some sleep.
Sleep's been an issue this week, she's teething and that isn't helping, but she's gone back to a late night bottle several times and has been very unsettled going down to sleep. A couple of nights she's screamed so hard, so quickly that I've taken her into bed with me - where she's only settled recently.
I rediscovered the world last night - D and I went to see 'White Christmas' at the theatre in Cardiff, unbelievably I didn't know the story. It was very 'Hollywood' and great fun. I had great fun but couldn't stop thinking about Alice and was relieved to be home - I even enjoyed the fact that Alice woke up as I went to bed, she'd only had half her usual bottle at bedtime so I took the opportunity to give her another one, the cuddle was good too! She didn't settle so came into bed with me, unfortunately she decided that it was playtime at 4.30am so she went back to bed at that stage!
We had a lazy, slow morning but eventually went out to buy a Christmas tree. It was a noticeably different process to previous years, I was much less picky and agreed the first tree they showed me, without having to see another dozen! It should be delivered over the weekend.
Back at home we had some quiet playtime before T arrived. Then we got out some of the Christmas decorations and started to put them up. Alice had lunch and then got very distressed - teeth, before going to bed and sleeping for over 3 hours. Her teeth were still causing bother when she woke up - her gums are extremely swollen and she's chewing on everything.
The jingle bells - new way to play, Alice-style, hold bell in your mouth and shake your head!
Thanks to D for her advice on self-feeding, Alice fed herself her evening fromage frais and really enjoyed the achievement.
A quieter day but a good one, despite Alice's teeth.
(Oh, the hair spray cans - Alice's favourite toy!)
