WORK? WHAT'S THAT?!

As most of you know I've taken a leave of absence for this term - life was getting too much, excema was exhausting and I was feeling stressed. So I applied for a leave of absence for this term (Autumn 2006) and my request was granted.

As it turned out I was in hospital for the beginning of this term and could probably have taken most of the first half of term as sick leave. But by taking a leave of absence I haven't mucked school around and have still been able to go in as a volunteer - which has been great to still have regular contact with the staff and pupils.

I'm going back in January. I've been allowed to go back on a part-time basis of 3 days per week. I've had to commit to staying until at least Easter - otherwise (from the pupils' perspective) it wouldn't be worthwhile. As I'm only going back part-time and for a limited time (probably) I'm not going back to Year 2 but to Year 3 instead. Year 3 are the children I taught last year in Year 2. I'm really sorry to be leaving the Infants and especially my colleagues there. But I'm also pleased to be returning to Year 3, there are still worries however - teaching the same children again (I'm pleased, but how will they and their parents' feel?), returning to the Juniors (I'm no longer used to dealing with 7 - 11 year olds - especially at playtime and assemblies!)

Now I've recovered - less stress and less scratching, I've really enjoyed my time off. I've been busy - lots of aqua aerobics, computing classes (completed 5 exams with 3 more to do), knitting and crafting bits, time spent at home and time to see friends - it's been great!
