OBSERVING ALICE

. . . she's changing so quickly.

These are some of the changes I've noticed in the time we've been home, just over 5 weeks:
  • she's much more stable sitting up, much less wobbly, able to push herself back up, able to twist without lossing her balance
  • she holds on to my hands to pull herself up to standing
  • she sometimes lifts her arms up to be picked up
  • she cuddles me when I lift her from her cot
  • she could always roll over, but originally would always roll back to where she started (maybe she learnt in a narrow cot?), now she rolls over and over and can move around a room quickly like this
  • she knows her name - and sometimes responds, strong willed rather than attachment issues, I think!

What's next? I think more movement, crawling, pulling herself up to standing, cruising around the furniture.
When? Our GP saw her 5 weeks ago and reckoned it would be a month or so! So probably any day!!

Oh, Kate! That's so great that Alice is reaching for you already! And seeking cuddles! Wonderful, truly wonderful. And what a fantastic feeling that is, isn't it? These milestones just tug at our hearts and only you really know just how meaningful these big steps are for you both. Our "A" is finally, after a year, feigning shyness around strangers - but because she's such an outgoing person, it's very short lived! But at least all the right attachment behaviours are there now, and from what you're experiencing with Alice, it seems that you are both well on the way to spectacular bonding! WHAT a feeling! It's so lovely to read about your journey together. Ellen xx
