(With tears in my eyes . . . OK and rolling down my cheeks!)
My baby is a British citizen!Funnily enough I said to someone this morning that it might come through soon!
For anyone about to go through the process themselves, this is the timeframe:
- Mid September - applied for Nationality Checking Service (NCS) appointment
- 12th November - NCS appointment
- 3rd December - Citizenship granted
- 6th December - Citizenship received
It's actually a bittersweet day, Alice becoming a British citizen means that she is no longer a Chinese citizen. It's a requirement of the Chinese adoption regulations that citizenship of the adoptive country is obtained and to encourage this process they require that Post Placement Reports continue until citizenship is obtained.

To My Friend Alice:
What a Special Day! Congratulations!
It is very cool to be a British Citizen. I remember when I became a citizen last year! Mummy & daddy made quite a fuss about it and I have a special certificate in my Lifebook.
My Mummy cried that day (but she cries about a lot of happy things so it was just an ordinary day here!).
I eagerly await our visit in the New Year!
lots of love from your special friend,

(and a few extra xxxxxx's for your very cute dogs!)
