GROWING UP - COTS
Alice has a cotbed. She loves her bed (cot) and so far has shown no inclination to climb out. It's plenty big enough for her (something has to be!) I can't see any reason to change it into a bed yet but I'd love to know of the experience of others - when did you move your child into a bed and why? Please vote in the polls and if you want to add further insight PLEASE leave a comment, thanks!

My dd1 was in her crib/cot until she was over 3!! She was very happy in there, had lots of room, and never climbed out of it. I ONLY moved her out because my friends all said "gee, isn't she a bit old to still be in a crib ????"
So, when she was 3.3 yrs old, I moved her to a toddler bed, which she stayed in until we moved, when she was 5. She was *just* getting a bit small for it. LOL
She looked so small in the twin bed she moved into. :0)
I'm planning on keeping dd2 in her crib until she's 3 too, unless she turns into a climber. The longer, the better, I say. It's such a nice comforting (and comfortable) place to be (well, it is for my two).
Bunk beds are coming next week, but only for my older dd. :)

I voted! 'A' was a bit under 2 1/2 when we converted her cotbed to the toddler bed. We had always thought we'd leave her in her cot for as long as possible! Safety - keeping her in bed etc.
But then out of the blue without any prior warning she suddenly started climbing down like a champ and we knew that we needed to avoid injury at that point - so the bed converted.
Then, when she turned 3 recently, we moved her into a bigger room (she had the tiny spare room as her nursery) and used that opportunity to also move her from the toddler bed into a proper child's single bed - in her case, a cabin bed which she absolutely LOVES!
We made that choice not because she was getting too big for the toddler bed (as you know she's a little mite, though a powerful one!) but because she is a marathon sleeper! All over the place and was constantly bumping up against the wall or the bed guard - and it was waking her up a lot in the night.
So, our initial intentions were squelched by our daughter's olympic tendencies!
Hope that helps with your own future decisions!
