Despite the weather, it's definite, summer's definitely here - the hot air balloons are back. They take off from several fields within a few hundred yards of the garden. They're quite an intrusion, it takes them the best part of an hour to set up and take off, for over 20 minutes we can hear the roar of the burners (and the manic barking of Jolly, who detests the sound of the burners!)
